マークと弁護士
マークは、弁護士をクライアントにした。
「弁護士なんて難しいじゃない」
そう私が言うと、
「だから、それにチャレンジしたんだ」
「なるほど」
「君が難しいと思っている、それ以上に
弁護士っていうのは難しいと思うよ」
「はあ」
「何しろ、クリティックの権化なんだから」
「なるほど。それでどうしたの？」
「すごく端的に、自分がどう彼らの役に立てるかを話す練習をしたんだよ。
つまりレーザートークを練習したんだ」
「なに、そのレーザートークって？」
「自分は誰で、何が得意で、あなたにどんな利益をもたらすか、
そして自分の実績。これをすばやく話すんだ。
自分のスペシャリティーはなんであるかをね」
「そうすると、どうなるの？」
「その場では、反応しないときもあるけど、後で声がかかったり、
弁護士の奥さんから声がかかったりすることがよくあったよ。
彼らはスペシャリストだけど、事務所の運営や、
部下育成、マーケティングについては、
特に習っているわけじゃないからね」
「なるほど、でも最初からすんなりはいかなかっただろう」
「弁護士の集まる会合に出かけては、プレゼンをさせてもらったり、
弁護士の集まるパーティーでレーザートークをやって、広めたんだ」
「そうなんだ」
彼はこれまでに１０００人の弁護士に対して、
コーチングとプログラムを提供してきた。
彼とは、スカッシュ以降、ほぼ一週間毎食一緒にご飯を食べて、
スコッチを飲んだ。
彼のクライアントは、
なぜかアメリカとスコットランドにいるのです。

イギリスには二種類の弁護士がいます。solicitorとbarristerです。うふ、一般にどっちがお金持ちでしょう？
